Fantastic Key Generator Key Types

Lever key: Those old-fashioned keys commonly called skeleton keys. A double-sided lever key has bits (the part that turns the lock) on the top and bottom. A four-sided lever key has bits sticking out of the top, bottom, and sides.

Flat lever key: Unlike your typical round-bodied lever key that has bits sticking out of a round body, a flat lever key is... well, flat.

Toothed tumbler key: The type of key generally used for houses and cars these days. Generally flat with grooves down the side and teeth on one or both sides, or occasionally even on four sides.

Dimple key: Dimple keys look and work very much like ordinary pin tumbler keys, but rather than having toothed edges, dimple keys have pits, or "dimples" in the side. See for yourself here.

Tubular key: Essentially a hollow metal tube with at least one bit on it. Tubular keys are often used for things like clocks and vending machines.

Do note that this should not be taken as a comprehensive, let alone technical guide to keys and locks - its sole purpose is to help you paint a mental picture of an interesting key or key-like item for fictional purposes.
