Every now and then, I get someone looking for something that's really not doable because it's either too broad, too narrow, or there's something that pretty much does the same thing already. Use this list to find something that will serve the purpose you're looking for.

Anime Plot Generator

Pretty much everything on this page can be used to come up with a potential anime plot. If you're looking for particularly odd or quirky ideas, The Really Random Plot-o-Tron is your best bet.

Asgardian Name Generator

While most of the Asgardian character in The Mighty Thor are based on the Norse pantheon, Marvel made up several additional characters. However, when it came to the names of these characters they played it rather fast and loose. Sometimes they used actual Norse names, though in other cases they used homophones - eg, Amora (amore) and Skurge (scourge). If you're looking for something fast and casual (eg, for NPCs or such), you could try the Asgardy-ish Name Generator.

Cat Name Generator

A visitor requested a random cat name generator, observing that cats are often named after mystical or cultural things. I haven't noticed any such trend myself, but if that's the type of name you think is suitable for a cat, then the Goth/Vampire Name Generator should do quite nicely, as should the Peter Pratchett in Wonderland Name Generator. If Warrior Cats is your thing, then try the Fur, Fang, & Field Name Generator. Otherwise, you can try pretty much any name generator, since you can name a cat anything you like!

Creepypasta Name Generator

Looking for something to name your creepypasta character? Then there are three options for you. If you want a name that sounds like something out of an urban legend or local myth, try the Urban Legend Spook Name Generator. If you're looking for something that sounds like some kind of otherworldly or demonic horror, check out what's under Demon Names below. On the other hand, if you're looking for something that by all rights is a dark-sounding supervillain name, try the Superhero & Supervillain Name Origin Generator to spark your imagination.

Demon Character/Name Generator

For demon characters, try out the the Monster Person Generator.

For names, most demons in lore have meaningful names originating from Latin, Greek, or various Middle Eastern languages. If precise meanings aren't really important to you, try the Ancient Greeky-ish Name Generator, the Latin-ish Name Generator, the Mesopotamy-ish Name Generator, or the Retro Warrior Race Person Name Generator - the latter two being particularly good if you want a Lovecraftian sound. If you just want names with a general "dark" theme, try the Goth/Vampire Name Generator.

Doctor Who Companion Name Generator

You can use use about anything on the Realistic & Semi-Realistic Name Generators page, particularly the Television Drama Name Generator and the Victorian Name Generator. If your fan companion is alien, you might also try the Name Smasher and the British Alien Name Generator.

Drabble Idea Generator

Try the Plot Punter.

Fantasy Race Name Generator/Sci-Fi Race Name Generator

You can easily create race names with many of the generators on the SF name generator page.

Fear/Phobia Generator

If it exists, it can be someone's phobia. Personally, I recommend going to a site like RandomWebsite.com and basing your character's phobia on the theme or content of the website that pops up.

Formal Outfit Generator

Do you want dresses, gowns, or suits?

Galaxy Name Generator

There's no overarching pattern to galaxy names, but Universe Today has a page explaining how various galaxies get their names.

Guardians of the Galaxy Character/Name Generator

If you want to create an alien character, the Fantasy & Sci-Fi Race Generator can give you some ideas to work with and the Character Detail Generators can help you flesh your character out more.

For names, the SF name generator page has plenty of options to generate names for aliens - the retro and 90's alien name generators being good places to start. And while we're here, have a complementary Spaceship Generator.

Halloween Name Generator

Try the Goth/Vampire Name Generator; it has plenty of spooky possibilities. See also this list of holiday-themed names.

Likes And Dislikes/Favorites Generator

In general, there are generators to cover any number of subjects that your character may like or dislike. Simply generate one set of results and use for the Likes, then generate another set and use those for Dislikes (ignoring any duplicates). Here are a few suggestions to use:

Food: Random Recipe Ingredient Generator.
Types of books/movies/tv shows: Genre Blender (EG, if your first result is "drama/comedy/mystery," then your character enjoys drama, comedy, and mystery.
Colors: Cosmetic Color Generator (go with whatever colors the names make you think of) or the Color Scheme Generator.
Clothes: Fashions are ephemeral and change rapidly. Instead, perhaps generate a favorite piece of jewelry, pair of shoes, or outfit and ask yourself why your character likes that particular thing. You can also try out the Fashion Style Preference Generator to figure out a particular type of look your character favors.
Things in general: Character Interests Generator and Random Thingimifier.

Magic Spell Generator

Try out the Magical & Weird Science Effects Generator.

Mermaid Name Generator

For sea-themed names, try the Sea Fae Name Generator. You might also try the Ancient Greeky-ish Name Generator or Latin-ish Name Generator if you want something along those sounds. If you just want a fantastic-sounding name that's simple enough to pronounce and aren't too fussed about making it sound like anything in particular, try The Name Smasher.

Mutant/X-Men Abilities Generator

Check out the Superpower Generator or the Magical & Weird Science Effects Generator, which generates things that can easily be used as mutant powers.

Original Character/OC/Fan Character Generator

Go ye forth and check out the Human & Humanoid Character Generators, the Non-Humanoid Character Generators, the Backstory & Origin Generators, and the Character Detail Generators as your needs demand. Whatever your fandom, you can be pretty sure you'll find something to fit.

OC Name Generator

Go and try the Fandom-Relevant Generator Index, and if it doesn't point you to anything useful, just check out the name generators in general and see if you can't find something to fit your needs.

Planet/World Name Generator

Many of the SF name generators can be used to name planets as well as people, particularly the alien name generators and random name/word creators.

Princess Name Generator

In real life, princesses tend to have names that come from the cultures of the ruling families. And as they might end up named after relatives or ancestors as time goes on, you might see the same names go around for awhile - and thus, a "princess name" is born.

If you're simply looking for a fantasy name with a somewhat "fancy" sound to it, the Name Smasher makes plenty of those, as does the Latin-ish Name Generator.

For fancy-sounding names that aren't entirely made up, the Nature-Themed Name Generator also puts out plenty of fancy-sounding names (as many of them are the Latin names of plants and animals), as does the Goth/Vampire Name Generator.

School/School House Name Generator (Vampire, Magical, High School, Boarding School)

For all your characters' educational needs:

Vampire School Name Generator: use the surnames from the Goth/Vampire Name Generator.

Magic School Name Generator: try the Fantabulous School & House Name Generator, the Quirky Fantasy Name Generator, or the surnames from the The Chronicles of Peter Pratchett in Wonderland Name Generator, Fairytale Name Generator, or Nature-Themed Name Generator.

High School Name Generator: try the surnames from the Television Drama Name Generator or Nature-Themed Name Generator.

Once you find a name you like, add "High," "Academy," "University," or "School For The Gifted/Magical/Mythical" or whatever else applies as you deem appropriate.

House Names: The Place Name Theme Generator can prompt your for house name themes, from which you can extrapolate names from or find a suitable generator to get names from.

Superhero (usually Justice League, Teen Titans, X-Men, or Avengers) Name Generator

There are some things that I feel you really cannot just pull out of your arse, and superhero names are one of them. I've seen other superhero name generators, and the stuff they come up with are beyond ridiculous. Most of the results are too long or so silly that even the Silver Age would be embarrassed to use them. I recommend checking out Tricks & Tips For Naming Superheroes & Supervillains, or the Superhero & Supervillain Name Origin Generator.

Street/Road Name Generator

Street names have no overarching logic or formulas to them, but they are hugely dependent on the culture that formed the city. For example, there is a place not too far from here where roads are named after types of fruit trees grown by local farmers. Also, cities often name streets after people important to the city's history - and to that end, the Surname Generator should work nicely. In subdivisions, streets are often given pleasant-sounding names that follow a particular theme - eg, the streets might be named after flowers, birds, or constellations.

In any case, the Place Name Theme Generator can give you some ideas for name themes to follow, and from there you can extrapolate appropriate names or generate them from other generators.

Villain Backstory/Motivation Generator

The only real difference between the backstory and motivation of a villain and a hero are how they each act on them. A hero responds to and uses things in a constructive and beneficial way; a villain responds to and uses things in a destructive and malicious way. So to that end, the regular old backstory idea and motivation generators are just fine. If you want an idea for how a supervillain got xir powers, go ye here.

Witch Name Generator/Magical/Mystical Name Generator

What kind of witch/magical person do you want to name? If you want 'spooky' or 'dark' names, then go here. If you have nature-loving magical folk in mind, then go here.

Young Adult Novel Plot Generator

Pretty much all of the plot generators can be young adult plots; just make the stories about young adult characters. If you plan to include a romantic subplot, the Plot Punter - Romance Edition and "How Your Pairing Met" Generator might be of interest.
